It was such a blessing to meet and spend time getting to know good-hearted people like Gary and his wife, Marty Evans from Temple, TX. They made it in last night around 8:30 after a 12-hour drive to deliver a trailer load of donations to People of Purpose. Meeting these two was a very personal moment that brought joy to my heart and tears to my eyes because we immediately knew it was a divine connection. Gary told me he was just glad that I answered his call that day when he was searching for the right organization to become partners with for this project. This is the beginning of long-lasting friendship that we both look forward to nurturing. Gary led this project for the C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) and Temple Fire Department. He stated “This has been an amazing experience! I’m just a heavy equipment mechanic and have done a lot of volunteering in the past but never to this magnitude!” Thanks to C.E.R.T. and its community for the financial contribution as well to help People of Purpose continue its mission to serve and help families in transition resolve challenges in their family, life, and finances by providing them what they need to regain stability in their lives. We are in this for the long haul with our communities and families affected by the flood. Every partner that has partnered with us understand the need to be a “Present Help Partner” in a time of trouble for our city and has come through in a major way. Within the last 3 weeks, we've received donations from several cities in various states including our very own state of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, and Wisconsin totaling 20 different cities from 10 states. Thanks for letting us know that Louisiana Matters!
